Om du, precis som jag, lever på Youtube har du säkert märkt att Netflix har gjort reklam för deras nya serie Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, och tur är det. Om jag inte skulle ha sett reklamen skulle jag helt ha missat denna underbara serie. Jag har under påsken suttit och skrattat högt för mig själv till Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, vilket har resulterat i en och annan blick ifrån min pojkvän.

15 år i en apokalypssektsbunker

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, skriven utav bland annat Tina Fey, handlar om Kimmy Schmidt som de senaste 15 åren har varit inlåst i en underjordisk bunker. Hon blev nämligen kidnappad tillsammans med tre andra kvinnor av en pastor med en apokalypssekt. Serien börjar med att de blir räddade från sekten och då får se att världen faktiskt inte har gått under. Efter en intervju i New York bestämmer sig Kimmy för att leva ett ”normalt” liv och väljer därför att stanna kvar i New York. Efter 15 år i en apokalypssektsbunker är dock Kimmys liv allt ifrån normalt, och hon gör sitt bästa under seriens gång med att försöka dölja sitt förflutna och smälta in i samhället. Något som inte går så bra.

Du får genom serien följa med Kimmy i hennes försök till att leva ett normalt liv i New York, där hon försöker hitta bostad och jobb. Något som slutar med att hon flyttar in tillsammans med en misslyckad homosexuell musikalartist i en källarlägenhet ägd utav en till synes knarkande, men trevlig, hyresvärd. Det slutar också med att hon får jobb som assistent hos en överklassfamilj vars relationer inte fungerar, där frun även hon har ett förflutet att dölja.

Då Kimmy har suttit inlåst i en bunker, utan någon kontakt med omvärlden, är hon helt ovetande om allt som har hänt de senaste 15 åren. Du får därför följa med när Kimmy, helt utan referenser från de senaste 15 åren, blir ombedd att ta en selfie, använda en iPhone eller göra en spellista för sin 30-årsfest. Något som inte går allt för smidigt och därför skapar situationer där du kommer skratta högt för sig själv.
